Check domain demo
Category AS3, Demo, Flash & Flex | Leave a comment
I made this small app a while ago. I figured this could be useful for someone so I decided to post it here with the source. It is relatively simple so I guess no in depth explanation is needed here.
However, if you are new to Zend framework I recommend watching this tutorial from Lee Brimelow.
You can also download the ZendAMF bootstrap file and other related files needed to get the application work properly. I included Sven Wageners amazing domain.class.php script in the download. That is the place where the actual search happens.

Feed Reader Demo
Category AS3, Demo, Flash & Flex | Leave a comment
Here is a simple feed reader app I made with Flex. It accepts RSS2.0 and Atom1.0. I included some error checking and validation to make sure that the URL or feed is valid but it could sure be better. Much better
.
I used Adobes as3syndicationlib to parse the feed data so if you need more information about it go check this article. “View Source” is enabled so you can download the files and study the application. Anyway check out the demo (Feed Rider).

Adobe Flash CS4 Trial Download
Category Flash & Flex, General | 69 comments
I just spent about half an hour trying to download the Adobe Flash CS4 Trial from adobe.com. Obviously downloading a file shouldn’t be big thing but now it turned out to be a bit trickier.
Adobe uses Akamai download manager for some downloads and that’s where my trouble started. Everything goes as it is supposed to until the Akamai download manager popup opens. Then… nothing happens. The download doesn’t start. I tried the download first with FF3, then with IE7 and finally with opera. The result was always the same. The download didn’t start. After a little struggle I noticed that the download managers url included urls to both files needed for the installation:
http://trials.adobe.com/dlm.html?files=http://trials.adobe.com/Applications/FlashPro/CS4/Win/ADBEFLPRCS4Win_LS1.exe|http://trials.adobe.com/Applications/FlashPro/CS4/Win/ADBEFLPRCS4Win_LS1.7z
So obviously that is supposed to tell Akamai download manager which files to download except it doesn’t work
. Not for me anyway. So if you are experiencing same problems just use the direct download links below.

Direct download link to the .exe file
And here is the download link for Mac (thanks to Ukyo):

GTween beta 5 will be out soon. Can’t wait to get my hands on it. Skinner has been working on this fancy sequensing feature that enables you to “jump to any position in the sequence, and everything will display properly for that position”. Go check it out.

Wow. Here we go again.
“More than just creative marketing, this new advertisement for MINI uses augmented reality (AR) technology to create a truly interactive media piece out of a 2-dimensional magazine ad. “
All you need is a copy of the ad (download), a webcam, and a web browser (Internet Explorer/ActiveX only) to view the 3-D AR (augmented reality) effect. So why don’t you try it yourself.

I just read Jesse Wardens post “Why Google Analytics for Flash“. So finally we have a proper solution for trackin Flash content. Well yes it has been possible before but you had to write your own logic to accomplish the task. Now you get it with 1 line of code and some fore-thought into the events you’d like to track.
Currently, Flash tracking is available for any Flash content embedded in a web page. So basicly that means that data sent from Adobe Air or other standalone applications is not supported but I can live with that. So go download your ActionScript 3 API for Google Analytics and start trackin.

WordPress 2.7
Category General | Leave a comment
I just upgraded my wordpress to latest version today and I have to say I LOVE IT. It gets better and better every time but this latest version really rocks. It sertainly takes a little time to get used to it but we’re not talking about days here. Not even hours.
I had little trouble with it at first and that is why I’m posting this in the first place. If you are using Lighter Menus plugin be sure to deactivate it before upgrading. I didn’t and struggled with the “restricted interface” for about two hours before I took a closer look to the source of the new admin section and discovered that the main menu is not displayed at the browser window. And yes Lighter Menu was the cause.
If you, however, are reading this post too late do not worry. Just navigate to plugin url (http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/plugins.php) and deactivate it. That should do it.
So if you haven’t already navigate to http://wordpress.org/ and get latest version… you’ll love it.

Auditorium
Category Flash & Flex | Leave a comment
Amazing game made with Flash. The basic idea is very simple and I guess that is one reason why I love it. It is also visually and technically really impressive. You have to give it a try.
“The Primary Goal of Auditorium is to guide your Flow into the various Audio Containers presented before you. As you fill these Containers, you will energize them. Given enough energy, the containers will begin to sing together in a symphony, providing the ultimate Harmony of Flow. But be advised: While some containers merely require the presence of Flow Energy, some containers will require a specific color of Flow. Beyond that, you may encounter containers that require a combination of two or more colors at a time in order to fill.“
