So if you are experiencing this problem with Dreamweaver here’s a few good places to start troubleshooting:
I struggled with this problem for about a month. I found a lot of “solutions” but none of them worked for me. Boy was I frustrated.
I also contacted adobe support with no luck. Here’s the mail:
“This problem started about a month ago. Until then it worked just fine. When I try to start DW it loads just fine until “initializin files”. Then it just freezes and comes unresponsive. I have even tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the problem remains the same. I am totally lost. I have tried everything including this http://forums.adobe.com/thread/417116. No luck so far.”
Finally I found a solution. For me removing the “configuration” folder was not enough. I had to remove the “Sites” from Windows registry to get Dreamweaver working again. So here is what I did (Windows XP):
- Press Windows Button + R (Start menu -> Run)
- Type “regedit” and hit enter
- navigate to “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Common\10\Sites” and remove it and all of its contents (it will be recreated when you start DW again, but notice that all “Sites” data will be lost. No files will be deleted though.)
- Your done

Adobe Flash CS4 Trial Download

I just spent about half an hour trying to download the Adobe Flash CS4 Trial from adobe.com. Obviously downloading a file shouldn’t be big thing but now it turned out to be a bit trickier.
Adobe uses Akamai download manager for some downloads and that’s where my trouble started. Everything goes as it is supposed to until the Akamai download manager popup opens. Then… nothing happens. The download doesn’t start. I tried the download first with FF3, then with IE7 and finally with opera. The result was always the same. The download didn’t start. After a little struggle I noticed that the download managers url included urls to both files needed for the installation:
http://trials.adobe.com/dlm.html?files=http://trials.adobe.com/Applications/FlashPro/CS4/Win/ADBEFLPRCS4Win_LS1.exe|http://trials.adobe.com/Applications/FlashPro/CS4/Win/ADBEFLPRCS4Win_LS1.7z
So obviously that is supposed to tell Akamai download manager which files to download except it doesn’t work 
. Not for me anyway. So if you are experiencing same problems just use the direct download links below.

WordPress 2.7

I just upgraded my wordpress to latest version today and I have to say I LOVE IT. It gets better and better every time but this latest version really rocks. It sertainly takes a little time to get used to it but we’re not talking about days here. Not even hours.
I had little trouble with it at first and that is why I’m posting this in the first place. If you are using Lighter Menus plugin be sure to deactivate it before upgrading. I didn’t and struggled with the “restricted interface” for about two hours before I took a closer look to the source of the new admin section and discovered that the main menu is not displayed at the browser window. And yes Lighter Menu was the cause.
If you, however, are reading this post too late do not worry. Just navigate to plugin url (http://www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin/plugins.php) and deactivate it. That should do it.
So if you haven’t already navigate to http://wordpress.org/ and get latest version… you’ll love it.

Uunituore Adobe Media Player (AMP) on juuri julkaistu Adoben sivuilla. Playerin voit ladata täältä. Adoben AMP tuo joustavuutta videon katseluun. Suosikki-sarjojen lataaminen käy kätevästi ja uudet jaksot voi ladata koneelle automaattisesti heti kun ne ilmestyvät verkkoon. AMP mahdollistaa myös mm. oman video-kirjaston luomisen, joten parhaat pätkät ovat aina kätevästi ulottuvilla. AMP toistaa myös lokaalit FLV-videot sekä (h.246 enkoodatut) QuickTime-videot.

Adobe julkaisi eilen uuden jäsenen Flash Media Server- perheeseen. Flash Media Rights Management Server mahdollistaa Adobe Media Playerille and Adobe AIR sovelluksille toimitettavan mediasisällön suojaamisen.
Teknologia mahdollistaa esim. katseluoikeuden määräaikaisuuden, jota on mahdollista muuttaa vielä jopa ko. tiedoston julkaisun jälkeen. Ominaisuuden avulla voitaisiin valjastaa AIR-sovellus esim. videovuokraamoksi. Julkaisija voi hyödyntää serverin DRM:ää sekä FLV että F4V audio- ja videotiedostojen suojaukseen. Enkryptatut FLV-tiedostot on mahdollista tarjoilla HTTP:n yli tai esimerkiksi FMS:n avulla.

Apua keittiöön

“Uusi” apukeittiö on ollut langoilla jonkin aikaa. Foorumi tosin pyörii vielä vanhalla alustalla, mutta muutosta on luvassa myös sinne. Uudistuksen myötä myös “admin-henkilökuntaa” päivitettiin. Jipe Huikuri (www.huikuri.com) jatkaa luonnollisesti puikoissa, mutta uusina moderaattoreina foorumilla itseni lisäksi aloittivat myös asiansa osaavat kaverit Juha Lindstedt (www.pakastin.fi) sekä Tero Lepistö (www.terolepisto.net). Jipen lisäksi foorumilla “vanhana konkarina” jatkaa Toni Laukka (www.laukka.fi).
Eipä siis mitään kovin ihmeellistä ja uutta taivaan alla. Päätinpä kuitenkin kirjoitella merkinnän blogiini, koska kirjoitan jatkossa Jipen apuna myös Apukeittiossä.

TweenLite vs. Tweener

Tweener on yksi suosituimmista animointiin käytetyistä “moottoreista”. Myös dokumentaatio on kattava. Kuulun itsekin Tweenerin kannattajajoukkouhin. Tai ainakin tähän päivään asti…
Alkuperäinen syy Tweenerin ja TweenLiten valinnan välillä oli suhteellisen intuitiivinen eikä perustunut mihinkään faktaan. Oikeastaan tein päätökseni nimen perusteella. Uskoisin, että moni muukin on toiminut saman kriteerin pohjalta.
TweenLite nimenä antaa vaikutelman, että sen toiminnot eivät ole kovin kattavia. Asia on aivan päinvastainen. Nimi viittaa nimenomaan sen painoon, ei ominaisuuksiin (TweenLite 2k, Tweener 10k). Ja nopealla katsauksella sen ominaisuudet ovat vähintään yhtä kattavat kuin Tweenerilläkin.
Lisäksi TweenBencherin testin mukaan TweenLite on huomattavasti suorituskykyisempi Tweeneriin verrattuna. Alla tulokset.
