Google Chrome
Filed Under Browsers
I downloaded the Googles new web browser, Chrome, today and I have to say it is freaking awesome. Here’s what Google Chrome download page says:
One box for everything
Type in the address bar and get suggestions for both search and web pages.
Â
Thumbnails of your top sites
Access your favorite pages instantly with lightning speed from any new tab.
Shortcuts for your apps
Get desktop shortcuts to launch your favorite web applications.
Nice features. And it seems to render sites really quickly. Even sites with complex CSS and HTML structure. If only I could get those nice Firefox extensions in it.

i’m willing to try it out just to see if it works more efficiently than FireFox… if it’s faster than Firefox and isn’t IE, then i’ll use it
Its worth trying anyway.
Have already found some strange bugs though.
On flash sites it most likely will crash. On my computer at least. Chrome just shows a message that flash player extension does not respond and freezes.
The other thing is javascript. Some scripts just don’t work whereas FireFox has no trouble at all.
Everybody wants a slice of the browser market pie resulting in continuous reinvention of the wheel. From web developer point of view the fractional benifits of speed or functionality (if any) are far from enough to compensate for the added workload of compatibility scripting and testing.
Conclusion: var google_chrome = “pointless”;
Well, after all the initial hype, Google Chrome has emerged as … well… nothing special.
BSODs, memory usage, disk activity… and boredome will ensure this goes to the deadpool
